The Greek word anastasis

Found in about half the books of the New Testament, the Greek noun “anastasis” is often translated “resurrection” in versions like the ASV and KJV.  In a few places like Jn. 11:24, this word is rendered something like “rise again.”

Like today, people in the past denied that a resurrection is possible (Mt. 22:23).  Some have questions about what the resurrection will be like (Mt. 22:28).  The righteous will be raised to inherit eternal life (Jn. 5:29); the unsaved will also be raised, but they will suffer eternal punishment.

Are you ready for your future resurrection?
