The Greek word anechomai

Found more than a dozen times in the New Testament, the Greek verb “anechomai” meant “tolerate,” “forbear,” or “suffer” (be patient).  Jesus used this words at various times (Mt. 17:17; Mk. 9:19; Lk. 9:41), but Paul was the most frequent user of this verb (1 Cor. 4:12; 2 Cor. 11:1, 4, 19-20; Eph. 4:2; Col. 3:13; 2 Thess. 1:4; 2 Tim. 4:3; Heb. 13:22.  The only other verses in the New Testament that contain this term are Acts 18:14; Heb. 13:22.
