The Greek word “bouleutes”

Found just twice in the New Testament (Mk. 15:43; Lk. 23:50), the Greek noun “bouleutes” meant “senator” or “member of a council.” Joseph of Arimathea is described as a “bouleutes” in Mk.15:43 and Lk. 23:50, likely because he was a member of the Sanhedrin.
