The Greek word akrogoniaios

Found just twice in the New Testament (Eph. 2:20; 1 Pet. 2:6), the Greek noun “akrogoniaios” described a “corner stone.” Jesus is the “chief corner” stone (Eph. 2:20). This word is also applied to the Lord in 1 Pet. 2:6 (“Because it is contained in scripture, Behold, I lay in Zion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: And he that believeth on him shall not be put to shame”).
