Found just twice in the New Testament (Rom. 2:4; 3:25), the Greek noun “anoche” meant “longsuffering” or “forbearance.” In both Rom. 2:4 and Rom.
3:25 this noun describes God’s patience or forbearance when it comes to sin.God could immediately punish man for sin, but divine patience often causes Him to “forbear” and give humanity an opportunity to repent (Rom. 2:4). In Rom. 3:25 this word is associated with sins prior to Jesus’ death on the cross.
