The Greek word antidikos

Found only in Mt. 5:25; Lk. 12:58; 18:3; 1 Pet. 5:8, the Greek noun “antidikos” meant “adversary” or “opponent.”

Jesus said His people need to agree quickly with their “adversary” (Mt. 5:25; Lk. 12:58).   He also said a widow asked a judge to avenge her of an “adversary” (Lk. 18:3).  Satan is called an “adversary” in 1 Pet. 5:8.  The Exegetical Dictionary of the New Testament (1:109) said this noun, in “biblical Greek,” is used “for the relationship among human beings or between human beings and God.”
