The Greek preposition apo

Found numerous times in the New Testament and used in every New Testament book, the Greek preposition “apo” meant “from,” “away from,” “because of,” “with.”  This preposition is so common it really needs to be examined in a good lexicon.  If this is done Bible students find that it “denotes motion from the edge or surface of an object” (Dictionary of New Testament Theology, 4:1180), it “marks simply the general point from which movement or actions proceeds” (ibid), and it may be used casually, instrumentally, adverbially, etc.
