The Greek word “asitia”

Found just once in the New Testament (Acts 27:21), the Greek noun “asitia” described abstinence from food, a fast, or a lack of appetite.

In Acts 27:21, this word likely describes a “loss of appetite” due to anxiety over personal safety, seasickness, or both things.  “During a storm at sea those on the ship suffered a great loss of appetite” (Exegetical Dictionary of the New Testament, 1:172).
