The Greek word “geros”

Found only in Jn. 3:4, the Greek noun “geron” meant “old” or “aged.” Nicodemus asked how a person could be “born anew” when he was “old.”

Some believe this word signifies “mature” or “grown.” The philosopher Pythagoras, who lived about 500 years before Jesus entered into the world, used this term to describe people between the ages of 60-80 (bit.ly/1MagUSm).
