The Greek word “dikaioo”

Found thirty-nine times in the New Testament, the Greek verb “dikaioo” meant “justify” or “pronounce innocent/righteous.”  Some seek to justify themselves (Lk. 10:29), even in areas such as divorce and remarriage (Lk. 16:15, 18).  Jesus said it is possible to be just before God (Lk. 18:14).

Justification comes by faith (Rom. 5:1), grace (Rom. 3:24), Jesus (Rom. 3:26), the blood of Christ (Rom. 5:9), the name of Christ (1 Cor. 6:11), “doing the law” (Rom. 2:13), and “works” (of obedience, not merit—Jas. 2:24).
