The Greek word “diplous”

Limited to Mt. 23:15; 1 Tim. 5:17; Rev. 18:6, the Greek adjective “diplous” meant “twofold” or “double.”

Twice as much a child of hell” is the meaning in Mt. 23:15.  Paul told Timothy elders are worthy of “double” honor (1 Tim. 5:17).  Some are worthy of “double” punishment (Rev. 18:6).
