Found about 2,700 times in the New Testament, the Greek preposition “in” is the most commonly used preposition in the New Testament. Sometimes this preposition designates place (“in,” “at,” or “on”). Examples of this include Jn. 5:4; Rev. 11:11. This word is also used of things. The Bible speaks of in soft raiment (Rev. 3:5) and “in” sheep’s clothing (Matt. 7:15).” En may have the sense of “among” (Mt. 2:6). Sin lives “in” a person (Rom.
7:17, 20). All treasures and wisdom are “in” Christ (Col. 2:3). Temporal use of this preposition is seen in Mt. 8:13. Instrumental use is found in Mt. 3:11. Modal use is seen in Lk. 16:23.
