The Greek noun “ζωή”

Found more than a hundred and thirty times in the New Testament, the Greek noun “zoe” meant “life.”  While this noun can describe physical life, the New Testament uses this term to describe life in its fullest, richest, and deepest sense—eternal life from God (Mt. 7:14; 18:8; 19:16, 29; 25:46).  Rejecting Jesus means losing out on this life (Jn. 3:36).  This noun is also used in Jn. 3:15-16.  Jesus is the bread of “life” (Jn. 6:48).  We have no “life,” unless we digest and follow Jesus’ teachings (Jn. 6:53-54).  Jesus offers the words of eternal “life” (Jn. 6:68).  Jesus offers abundant “life” (Jn. 10:10).  We can lay hold on eternal “life” (1 Tim. 6:19).  There is a crown of eternal “life” (Rev. 2:10), and a book of eternal “life” (Rev. 20:12, 15).
