The Greek word “basileus”

Found more than 100 times in the Greek New Testament and used quite often in Greek literature (including the Septuagint), the Greek noun “basileus” meant “king,” “sovereign,” “leader,” “ruler.”

This term is used to describe secular rulers such as David (Mt. 1:6), deity (1 Tim. 1:17), and even the saved (Rev. 5:10).
