The Greek verb “ἐκχέω”

Found several times in Rev. 16 (Rev. 16:1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 17), but also used in Mt. 9:17; Mk. 2:22; Jn. 2:15; Acts 2:17-18, 33; 22:20; Rom. 3:15; Tit. 3:6, the Greek verb “ekcheo” meant “spill,” “run out,” “shed.”  John spoke of vials or “bowls” (KJV) being “poured out” on the earth in Rev. 16:1-4, 8, 10, 12, 17.  In Rev. 16:6, John spoke of saints whose blood had been “shed.”

Back in Jn. 2:15, Jesus spoke of money which was “poured out” in the temple area.  Peter quoted a prophecy from Joel on the Day of Pentecost in Acts 2.  This prophecy said the Holy Spirit would be “poured out” on “all flesh.”  Some are swift to “shed blood” (Rom. 3:15).
