The Greek word “bia”

Found just four times in the New Testament (Acts 5:26; 21:35; 24:7; 27:41), the Greek noun “bia” means “violence” or “force.”

This word describes violent waves which broke up a ship (Acts 27:41), plus violence against disciples (Acts 5:26; 21:35; 24:7). In the Septuagint this term describes how the Egyptians treated the Hebrews (Ex. 1:13-14).
