The Greek word anoia

Found just twice in the New Testament (Lk. 6:11; 2 Tim. 3:9), the Greek noun “anoia” described “madness” (fury) or “foolishness.”

Pharisees who saw Jesus heal on a Sabbath day were so filled with fury (Lk. 6:11) they were irrational.  In 2 Tim. 3:9 Paul used this word to describe the folly of apostates who lacked understanding/good sense.
