The Greek word anapleroo

Found in just six New Testament verses (Mt. 13:14; 1 Cor. 14:16; 16:17; Gal. 6:2; Phil. 2:30; 1 Thess. 2:16), the Greek verb “anapleroo” meant “fulfill” or “supply.”

Old Testament prophecy was “fulfilled” by Jesus (Mt. 13:14).  Christians are to “fulfill” the law of Christ (Gal. 6:2).  Evil people “fill up” their sins (1 Thess. 2:16).  In 1 Cor. 16:17 and Phil. 2:30 this verb describes the fulfillment of a desire.
